Parental Advisory

Parents, please be advised that this site is not suitable for young children to browse unsupervised.

Whilst most of  the lessons are child-friendly, certain sections may not be.

In particular:

• The discussion forums are intended for adults to discuss language and cultural issues.  Our forums are moderated according to our Etiquette Guidelines, but some threads may well contain issues which are not suitable for minors.  We do not moderate such threads in order to make them child friendly.

• The online dictionary is used to power various tests and utilities throughout the site.  These tests are able to be filtered by "level".  Levels 1 and 2 will be perfectly OK for children to use and learn from (and we know that a lot of parents do use them for this purpose).  Higher levels contain words that are distinctly adult in nature though, hence why supervision is needed!

• Our chatroom is unmoderated and children should definitely NOT be allowed to use it without adult supervision. This is just common sense and no reflection on those of us who frequent the chatroom, as we are generally a friendly bunch!

So, to summarise. This site contains a vast amount of learning material which could be used to provide a rich learning environment for your children, provided you use common sense.  So, please either supervise your children while they are visiting it or print out the pages you want them to use.
