PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME TO SAY THE CARDS DO NOT LINE UP! YOU HAVE TO PRINT THE CARDS OUT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PAPER!!!

The purpose of this section of the site is to allow you to print out the following pages to make some flashcards.  If you find this a useful service, please consider donating a few dollars to the site, or purchasing a set of our Deluxe or Magnetic Chinese Flashcards.

The flashcards on this page are free, but we also offer
Deluxe Chinese Flashcards for sale. Please take a look!

Please read the instructions if you are unsure how to make these flashcards.  This project should be suitable for young children to make if an adult supervises the cutting. Each flashcard shows:

Front of the card:

  • A single large character
  • A line under the character to show which way up it goes

Back of the card:

  • Jyutping romanistion to show the pronunciation of the character
  • Jyutping tone number
  • The character's basic meanings
  • The difficulty level of the character according to this website (optional)
  • The number of strokes needed to write the character (optional)

READ THIS, IT IS GOOD ADVICE!:

There is now an option to allow you to choose your own font for the flashcards.  You will need the chosen font to be installed on your computer.  Go to the Font Download Section if you do not have any good Chinese fonts.

It  is highly recommended that you use a font such as "AR PL KaitiM Big5" as this will give you a much better idea of how the different strokes are written.

Font Comparison This shows the difference between the stylised MingLiu font and the more natural AR PL KaitiM Big5 font.

One important note, some fonts do not feature all the characters, so in some cases you may have to sacrifice functionality for style!

Finally, if you know of any good fonts please send me the links so I can add them here.
