Usage Note
午安, 晚上好 and 晚安 are all quite formal
and not commonly used.
喂 may be used to attract attention but is not very civil - somewhat
akin to the British "oi!". It is also a fairly common
greeting when using the telephone, in which case it translates as
something like "yeah?" or "who's that?" I
have an auntie who extends the tone for what seems like about 3
seconds!
